OCPAS - Office of the Commissioner for Public Appointments in Scotland

The Office of the Commissioner for Public Appointments in Scotland was set up as a separate entity in June 2004 after legislation was passed through the Scottish Parliament which included appointing an independent Commissioner to oversee all public appointments in Scotland. The Commissioner for Public Appointments in Scotland shares similar objectives and procedures with the separate Commissioners for England and Wales and for Northern Ireland. Karen Carlton offically took up post on 1 June 2004 after being selected through a Scottish Parliamentary process for nomination by HMQ.
